Consider yourselves cat-fished. I didn’t buy a Corvette ZR-1. I didn’t buy anything, really. Other than copious amounts of bourbon. However, I did come out as bi to my parents and my brother. Which, at 33 years of age, is still huge. I didn’t know what to expect. Everything went well. Timing was bad (father’s day weekend). I didn’t plan it. I just grew tired of hiding who I am from those who love me most. Everyone was so supportive and understanding. Even though, I’m not fully out (work, etc), the important people know. And now, so does Oppo.
I don’t post often (long time lurker at this point due to work things). However, I know you guys are an awesome group. Anyway, that was my weekend. How was Oppo’s?

I too, have mixed feelings but I also can’t help but like them. They were trash-ish. But damn, they looked good. And a few good humans did perform an LS swap. So there’s that.

Gotta be you, man. Have a really good friend who did the same about two years ago. We were at a beer fest and he literally walked up to me and was like, “Hi, I’m bi.” Little bit of liquid courage got him over the hump. As with most things we think we’re keeping secret, we all had a pretty strong inkling before he told us, so we’re just happy he can be his full awesome self now, and I’m glad that you can too.

Congrats, big step. I’m really happy you had the full support of your family. My sister had struggles with a large portion of my family when she came out in college.
Fast forward 15 years and she’s getting married this fall. She told everyone she was getting married and ended up having to change the wedding plans because she was surprised at how many people wanted to come. I’m glad my family has grown and moved in the right direction. I’m actually officiating the wedding (random request, never done it before haha).

Given how cheaply you can pick one of these up, I don’t see a reason not to do it. They aren’t special. There’s the overland mustang template. The top could easily be closed. Where’s the downside?

There really isn’t one. I will start working on financing such things. My house is currently trying to fall apart so that is happening first. BUT! After that and hopefully avoiding financial ruin, then miata truck things!

Yeah her first marriage she didn’t invite any family because she didn’t think anyone wanted to be there. (For the record I was the only family member to be instantly cool with it and never have any problems with who she was and I definitely would have attended the first one. S he literally didn’t tell us it was happening until after the fact.) Anyhow, she’s not doing a wedding party to keep things small and my Aunt actually recommended the idea. The wedding is on a beach anyhow no reason to hire a legit minister to go out in the sand and it was a cool way to involve her only sibling.
While I’m not happy it brings my wedding total up to 3 for the year...which includes travel to all 3 of them.... and it blocked my wife and I going on a much anticipated 10 year anniversary trip to Gree ce (neither of us has been to Europe before) , I do think it’ll be a really cool experience! And Greece will be there next year for our 11th anniversary.

Dang! I am so glad your sister has such a great support system and can see it for herself! You’ll love Greece by the way. Worth it. Hot as hell in July but, hey, what place isn’t? I did it in 2002 as part of a group. Greece, Italy, France and UK. Well, London. Haha. It was 3 full weeks. We traveled to the island of Aegina and it was a nice little boat ride from Athens. It was incredible. OH! And go to the Peloponnese island (Looks like a hand on the map). It’s, from what I remember, where the birth place of the Olympic games was. We went to Olympia and other locations there. It was incredible from a historical standpoint. There’s a man made canal that separates the Peloponnese island from the rest of Greece. I won’t give it away, but it’s incredible to view.

Our plan (at least was) to spend 7 days. Fly into Athens, check out Athens for a day or so, then head over to Santorini for 3-4 days, ferry ride back to Athens for the last night then hop the plane home.
Trying to make the most of it as with a 2 and a 6 year old it’s not easy to take a “just parents” trip. I’ll keep those places in mind to try and get to! Thanks!

When I went, we did all bus travel once there (except the island, obviously) and were able to do Athens (2 days) Aegina which is accessible from Athens and then Olympia and the like were mostly day trips from a hotel on Peloponnese. Kids? Drop ‘em at my house for the week. I got this. I have nieces the same age. They’ll have a great time. As long as you don’t mind a little whiskey at night for ease of sleep. Kidding. Mostly.

Sounds like you got a nice trip! I’d love to see Olympia, we’ll have to see how much time we can pull off staying over there. Wife has her mindset on Santorini so that eats some time just taking the ferry over there and back.

Absolutely! Hey, with kids, they only have to be alive, in one piece when you return. That’s all I’m committing to. Lol. Olympia was beautiful, however, it’s in ruins so you definitely have to take that into account. Now, if you’re a history nut like me, it’s fascinating!

Haha, yeah they’re not coming. We were supposed to go this fall but the wedding popped up so we’ll just keep racking up the Skymiles points....maybe by May we’ll have enough for nicer seats!

Nicer seats. I highly recommend that one! Let’s say, the last time I was on a plane (April of this year) it had been 7 years and they had me on a Boeing 737. So, I paid 41 bucks to upgrade to a better seat that came with free beverages. Dierks Bentley had an appropriate song for what happened next! Haha. Worth every penny.

lol, yeah I almost always jump to Delta Comfort +
I’ve got Silver Medallion Status because I’m a maniac with my Delta Skymiles AMEX card and my last round of flights for work I got first class 3 out of 4 flights for free. It was magical.

I normally fly 3-ish times a year. Once for work and twice with the family.
This year will be 4 flights at least. I just went to Texas and California and I am going to fly to SC at least once, probably twice this year still.

Sounds good man! Actually my parents are planning in a few years to possible move up to Lake Norman area so if that happens we’ll definitely be getting together. We haven’t driven from Michigan down there in a while with the kids, it’s about 16-17 hours in the car which is tough with a 2 and 6 year old.
